YOYO: Sydney Day 3 & 4

Hello world, I am sorry for the lack of updates.

My life recently has just been revolving around procrastinating, studying, midnight suppers with Shona, Giselle and Juliette, trying to keep up with the Uni kiddos Tim, Belle and Nette on weekends and trying to find time to spend with my Trinity bitches Yin and Jasmine.

It's pretty crazy and I feel so exhausted.
Just let me go back to Singapore..... :-(
So not looking forward to finals starting on the 18th May and packing up my whole room and moving out of Palmerston. Moving. Sucks. (yay what a grown up thing to say.) ((not))

Anyway, here's the 3rd and 4th day of my trip Sydney!
Can't believe its been a month since my trip there. Ugh I miss Sydney and all its magic. I'm nearing the end of this update of my trip, so please do bear with me. Hahaha it's so draggy only because I take fricking ages to actually sit myself in front of my laptop, select and upload photos, and do a relatively decent blog entry on it. Meh.

Day 3:
Started off the day waking up late for my high tea appointment with Darlia at QVB (Queen Victoria Building) and rushed out of the house.
QVB's interior seriously reminded me of Raffles City... except a little more classy and older. And right below in the basement, is a metro stop as well! Sounds like RC with the MRT station right under it too.

Did a couple of things I never thought I would do in a long time:

1. I took a bus! Alone! In a city/state/country that I have never been to before! Purely relying on directions and buildings to recognise along my 20 minute bus ride given to me by Clement the night before. And I made it all in one piece. So proud!!!!!! :-)

2. Had high tea. Well, ok this isn't my first time having high tea, but it was my second time and my first with a friend! Catching up with Darlia was so fun and I learnt a lot about Australians and their student/party/college culture. Sure sounds different from what Singaporeans experience. Haha.

(that old brown building is the exterior of QVB! I swear it looks newer inside.)

With my sydney girl darlia! Can't believe we still stayed friends since we were 7 till now! From primary school friends, to pen pals when she first moved over to sydney.... good times.

So we caught up for a good 4 hours. It was crazy at the amount of things we managed to talk about and we didn't even know time flew by so quickly. She had a driving lesson to rush to, so I called up Giselle (who also stays at Palmerston but she flew over to Sydney during the break as well) and we hung out for the rest of the day!

Shopped like crazy the whole afternoon omg (thus explaining my relatively big haul on my instagram)

So after the whole afternoon of shopping, we decided to head to a Korean BBQ place called Madang that was highly recommended by Clement and Fion!

Apparently it was so popular that queues usually last for an hour or so!
Giselle and I were pretty nervous because we initially couldn't find the stupid place because it was hidden in some alley thing, and we got our directions mixed up.
But thanks to trusty google maps and our wonderful instincts, we made it!

See the "Madang" signboard? That Madang closed down. The REAL Madang was behind it. Misleading much?

Madang!!
Thank God we came in earlier than the crowd, so we got our seats immediately. :-)

The food was dfjkndkjbfkngkejt DELICIOUS and omg by far one of the best Korean BBQs I've had. The seafood pancake was the bomb diggity as well, so thank you Clement and Fion for the wonderful recommendation!

A slipper vending machine, how smart.

Day 4:

This day basically consisted of many touristy photos because we initially planned to head over to Blue Mountains, but the plan failed because:
1. It was forecasted to rain.
2. Clement was tired after moving the whole night. And we all wanted more sleep.
3. 2 hour drives don't seem that fun.

So Clement brought all of us around the touristy places in the city area!

The seafood platter was so good and the salmon as well, because everything was superrrrr fresh! Like literally, the fishing pier was just behind this market and they get sold almost immediately. Yum. The calamari was A+++++

I remember snapping this photo to send it to the girls on how cute the guys were at the other table. Ha ha stalker FAIL.

Funny story: We were driving through the clubbing street/area in Sydney later on in the night and it was crazy at the fact that the cab next to us stopped by the road and out came this SAME group of guys!!! I was literally going mad in the car hahahah everyone just judge la ok just judge. FATE OR????

Yes. A whole bag of fresh prawns on the right. SO GOOD.

And then we went to this park that managed to have a beautiful view of all the touristy landmarks Sydney has to offer! Picture overload, sorry!

Sydney CBD! The sun was evidently not on our side. ugh.

Tourist shot FAIL

My big head was blocking the Opera House. :-(

And then we headed over to another place with another pretty view! Darling harbour! It felt so much like Clarke Quay + Robertson Quay. Missing Singapore so much nowwwwowowowowow.

Managed to catch the breathtaking sunset. Pink skies are always the best. :-)

People need help naming their restaurants.

Anyway, headed over to The Star which is really very much like MBS and their casino and stuff. Went there basically for MESSINA ICE CREAM.
Apparently it's the best gelato in AUSTRALIA????

Shared 3 scoops with Jie jie and HOLY MOLY I KNOW WHY IT IS THE BEST. It was so good I actually went to get another double scoop for myself. And I have never actually went to get a second serving of ice cream. It was THAT good guys.

You MUST try this when you're in Sydney.

Walked past Adrianno Zumbo pastry shop and it was so packed and everything was already sold out.
According to Tim, he's really famous and his desserts are always featured in Australia's masterchef? Wow. Pretty bummed that I didn't get to try his macaroons because I heard they were super good.

THEY HAD A DESSERT TRAY.

So we had dessert before dinner. What gives. Headed over to a korean place for some hotpot. Super good, what else to say? Korean food is my fav.

So that concludes my day 3 & 4 over in Sydney! Long post, I'm sorry again.

Back to hitting the books and getting all stressed up for finals ~___~

Stay sane kiddos xxx

YOYO: Sydney Day 2

Disclaimer: My face + hair on this day looked like shitter than usual due to the crappy rainy weather and the crazy rides my cousin and I sat on- further messing up my already crazy hair. I apologize.

YAY! So this day has got to be by far the most tiring day but also the most fun one!

On the second day of my Sydney trip, we headed to the SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW

Started the day off super early because we had to take a bus and a train to the Sydney Olympic Park (fun fact: they also held the sydney soundwave over here). It was raining but no one was complaining, plus Sydney's trains had flippable seats which could be flipped to change the direction that you want to sit in. Cool or what!?! And their trains are all double deckered. Double the coolness.

Gloomy morning does not equate to gloomy crowd!

There was a 1D merch truck and it was so amusing looking at little 10 year old girls dragging their parents to buy some merch from there. HAHA.

A joey!!!! It was so cute omg *___*

The Map of the Royal Easter Show! It is hugeeee. There was a whole food area, kids ride area, adult ride area, carnival games, goodie bags area, animal shows area etc etc

Really wanted to try going into the haunted house, but Fion and Jie Jie backed out so I guess we couldn't leave them there. :-( It looked fun. There were actually people dressed up as scary things walking outside and scaring people. We managed to take a picture but I think it's in Clement's camera.

A baby croc! Crikey, mate! (also, the dude was kind of cute)

ALPACAS. I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THESE CUTE SMELLY CREATURES.

I clearly remember this Alpaca moving away from me to take a shit WHILE eating. Alpacas multitasking, people.

We then went to go see the bird show! Some of these cages had the most beautiful chickens/geese/ducks/whateverbirds ever. Their feathers, size.... omg couldn't stop staring.

Those chicks that we got to touch were just born the day before!

And then we proceeded to the horse stables where we got to see some of the horses that were participating in the horse show! Omg their manes were so beautifully tied and their bodies all so lean. Man their owners must've spent a lot of time and effort into making them look so good.

And then here comes the fun crazy yoyo part: THE RIDES!
Jie jie and I managed to ride about 5 rides and it was helluva fun. Really didn't think twice about the shit I was going to get myself into and just went for it. Told myself to be spontaneous and do something daring. Proud to say I did it!

(Well I didn't take that crazy extreme swinging 360 ride because my balls were not large enough for that one. Maybe next time)

(see that roller coaster behind? next to the carousel? we took that. It was amazing)

And then Fion and Clement joined us back again for a bumper car game! Haven't played bumper cars in more than 9 years and I still had the same rush of adrenaline when you collide head on with some other car and you both end up laughing. Some things never change. Simple, but so so fun.

(THIS POTATO THING IS DA BOMB DIGGITY PEOPLE, IT WAS SO GOOD I LOVE IT)

We played games, watched animal shows in the rain (we watched one where they had the pigs swim and race), ate a lot of free food samples given out in the food area, took rides, walked around, played more games and ate even more food.

Started off the day at around 9am and only finished up the easter show at 8pm. So fun but so tiring!

It wasn't even then end because Clement brought Fion and I to Pancakes on the rocks!
The rocks is apparently this relatively high class place near the city/cbd area where it overlooks the Sydney Opera House and bridge. Couldn't resist pancakes so we headed over there!

And of course, while walking to the pancake place, why not be a tourist and take some photos?

The strawberry jam/fudge/drizzle was just flgjwkdfhhjtyhnrwip so good.
We also had $4 milkshakes which were amazing as well.

To end this post off, here's some pictures of the super long and (kind of) extravagant firework display during the closing finale of the Royal Easter Show!

Fireworks are kind of my thing. I've always liked the feeling of watching fireworks right above you and they're always so.... captivating. One of the few things that can really make me feel so happy.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
